This Privacy Policy explains how Paige’s Childcare (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects the personal information of parents, guardians, and children when you use our website and childcare services (the “Platform”). We are committed to safeguarding family privacy while providing trustworthy childcare.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: Name, email, phone number, and password (stored in hashed form).
- Family details: Child names, birth dates, allergies, medical notes, and emergency contacts provided to keep children safe.
- Booking records: Scheduled appointments, addresses, services requested, and communications related to a booking.
- Payment data: Stripe securely stores your card information. We never receive or store full card numbers or security codes—only masked references (card brand and last four digits) needed for receipts.
- Usage data: Device information, log data, and cookies that support authentication, security, and essential analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and family profile.
- To schedule, deliver, and document childcare bookings.
- To send receipts, reminders, and service updates by email.
- To process payments and refunds through Stripe.
- To maintain Platform security, comply with legal obligations, and improve our services.
3. Legal Bases
We process personal information based on consent (e.g., when you create an account), contractual necessity (to deliver childcare and process payments), legal obligations (such as tax and safety requirements), and our legitimate interests (security, record keeping, and service improvement).
4. Sharing Your Information
- Service providers: We share necessary information with trusted vendors who help operate the Platform—currently Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and Tawk.to (chat). These providers process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements.
- Legal compliance: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of families or Paige’s Childcare.
- We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.
5. Children’s Information
Parents supply their children’s information solely so we can deliver safe childcare. We do not create separate profiles for children, nor do we use their data for marketing. Parents remain responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and booking information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with tax, insurance, or legal obligations. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. You may request account deletion at any time (see Section 10).
7. Security
- Access to family data is restricted to Paige and the secure systems required to operate the Platform.
- All traffic is encrypted via HTTPS. We review access permissions and logs regularly.
- Card payments are handled exclusively by Stripe; we never have direct access to full card data.
8. Cookies & Analytics
We use essential cookies to authenticate sessions, keep you signed in, and prevent fraudulent activity. Chat support (Tawk.to) may set additional cookies or collect limited usage data subject to their policy. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, although disabling essential cookies may limit site functionality.
9. International Transfers
Our primary data processing occurs in Canada and the United States. When service providers transfer data across borders, they do so using appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful mechanisms.
10. Your Privacy Rights
- Access, update, or correct your personal information through your profile.
- Request deletion of your account and personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Withdraw consent for optional communications by updating preferences or contacting us.
